I know that many people spent the weekend celebrating Cinco
de Mayo with friends & family and Mexican fiestas.
But did you know that May 6th, being the 1st
Sunday in May, is International Bereaved Mother’s Day?
This day was established in 2010 as a special day set aside
to honor and celebrate mothers who carry some, if not all, of their children in
their hearts rather than in their arms. In our modern society, mothers who are
grieving the death of their babies or children are often forgotten. Traditional
Mother’s Day proves to be an emotionally difficult day for so many mothers
around the world.
So on this special day each year these mothers can come together
to celebrate their connection with one another, their children, and their hope
for the future. They look at their ultra sound pictures, pictures they have of
their lost ones, polish their urns, lay flowers at their graves, visit special
places, and light candles in their memories.
So on this day, I’d like to honor my many friends who hold
some, even all, of their precious ones in their hearts and memories. You are beautiful
women and mothers. I admire your spirits—that you are living such beautiful
lives is a tribute to all your children.
I love you all!
Thank you to Carly Marie for the information on International Bereaved Mother's Day
